Japanese sweets, made of rice and mixed with sweet red beans (often coloured and shaped to represent the season), will be served to complement the Matcha green tea used in the ceremony.

With Akemi Solloway

The daughter of an old samurai family, Akemi grew up immersed in the traditional arts and culture of Japan. For 30 years she has taught every aspect of Japanese cultures and language, from food, flower arranging and wearing the kimono to teaching negotiating skills to British exporters and the warrior art of bushido to the pupils at Eton School. She also runs study tours to her country.
